As you all know, McFly have been in Atlanta for the past few weeks, working with Dallas Austin. Dallas blogged on his official site about McFly’s visit:

McFly in the Dirty South!

Well, I know you guys have been wondering what me and my homes, McFly, have been up to. Well, we gotta get these albums done!! Therefore, we can’t blog all of the time. We also really love for you guys to feel like you are a part of what’s going on (since it’s for you anyway), so I took a couple of pictures for your enjoyment.

The guys drove into Atlanta in this blazing orange hot rod road runner and instantly felt right back at home in the dirty south. Harry didn’t get to come last time, some bullshit about a broken heart or something but he is in Atlanta in full effect. These guys are really adapting well to the southern lifestyle.

We have been keeping the most amazing song board ever made and here is a sneak peek. It started a little something like this……

Keep you posted.

See you on Ustream!

8888888888888.

20 MQs, taken by Dallas himself, have been added to the gallery:

McFly have been working pretty much flat-out on their upcoming album over the past few weeks, but last night they treated themselves to a night off and – we suspect – quite a few drinks at the same time.

Dougie, Tom and Danny were snapped making their way from Nobu to Bungalow 8 to Jet Black in London over the course of last night and were seemingly happy to pull some daft faces for the paps as they went. Poor Dougie needs a bit of cheering up after his relationship with Frankie Sandford sadly came to an end recently, and everyone knows getting happily drunk on the town with your mates is the best medicine.

Update: For those of you that are asking, the girl pictured with Dougie is definitely not his new girlfriend and it’s not his sister Jazzie, either. We spoke to the boys not long ago, and they told us she is just one of a large group of friends they were out with last night. You can take your Cilla Black hats off, people!

We’re all excited for McFly’s next release, even more so because the details are few and far between. Well today Tom has mentioned it again…

When you’re stuck in traffic it gives you time to think, and that’s exactly what McFly’s Tom Fletcher did today.

Sitting in the jam, Tom thought about the band, the last album, the next album… and then shared his thoughts with his 195,000+ army of Twitter followers.

“I know it’s been almost 2 years since [Radio:Active] but it’s going to be worth the wait!”

Before adding in a somewhat cheesy fashion: “Over the next few months you’ll find out what we’ve been preparing for you. The future for Mcfly is about to change… and Mcfly are about to change the future.”

Danny Jones wants to work with Meat Loaf… well it’s no more surprising than McFly working with Taio Cruz.

The McFly guitarist has apparently become close to the show judge in a series of backstage chats – according to The Sun.

Danny said: “Meat Loaf’s a lovely guy. He always comes and talks to me.

“It’d be amazing to work with him – how cool would that be? Meat, can I be on your new album please?”

“I’d like to see him do some kind of opera single. I believe he is opera-trained. It would be awesome.”

Danny also spoke about his band mates. He reckons Harry Judd could do opera – but isn’t so sure about Dougie Poynter or Tom Fletcher.

He said of this week’s workout: “Harry was the best, I truly believe he could be an opera singer.

“He properly got into it. Dougie struggled and Tom couldn’t roll his Rs so he’s got no chance.”

We’d love to see Danny duet with Meat Loaf, can someone make this happen please?

McFly star Danny Jones has revealed that the band’s new album is influenced by Prince and Michael Jackson.

Jones, who was voted off Popstar To Operastar last night, told the Daily Star that the album is “killer”.

“We’ve got the material and are building up the McFly massacre,” he said. “The album’s an absolute killer. It’s got a Prince and Michael Jackson influence.”

Jones added that the group are working with Taio Cruz and American producer Dallas Austin on the record.

“Taio’s a really cool guy,” Jones explained. “We’ve written tracks with him and we’re now trying to get him to produce one.

“It was awesome working with Dallas as he’s a bit of a party boy – he thinks he’s our fifth member. He’s coming over to the UK to produce four or five of our songs.”

McFly are reportedly in talks to return to their former record label Universal.

As you know, Tom, Danny and Dougie have just returned from a week spent in Atlanta, Georgia working in the studio with famous musician, songwriter and producer, Dallas Austin, and during their stay, were invited to dinner with Elton John! Here’s what Dallas himself blogged yesterday:

Dinner w/Elton & McFly!

12.10.09

Well, I’m awake now. Wheeew, long night! I had the most amazing session last night; well, this morning, considering I went to bed at 10am. Me & the guys from MCFLYD (I added a ‘D’ because I am the newest member, D.) We have made some fuckin’ amazing music this week! It is so good to be in the studio with talented musicians as well as a group of really close friends. The spirit of creativity can only prevail at its greatest when everyone allows it, and that’s what we did!! If you haven’t seen MCFLY on YouTube, you should take a look. It’s funny.

The first night they arrived, I was supposed to go to dinner with ELTON JOHN. Well, I had to cancel because of my session with the guys but when Elton found out, he said, “Bring the guys! I would love to meet them!” Of course the guys were ecstatic, so we went to the lobster bar and come to find out, they are from the same town in England that Elton is from! We hit it off all so well that I asked Elton if we could come see his AMAZING SUPER Atlanta art collection which contains a lot of TODD MURPHY art (my friend and favorite artist which Elton owns about 50 TODD MURPHY’S). He said sure, let’s do Mexican night. So we did. My good friend Farshid invited Ed Roland and Danny from REHAB so now we have an universal click and together can experience some of the most amazing pictures and art pieces ever! The tour guide is none other than ELTON – FUCKIN AMAZING!

Here’s a few pics from our wild sessions at the studio and at Elton’s. I’m pissed now because my man, DOUGIE – yes, DOUGIE is dating a girl named FRANKIE from a group called the SATURDAY’S. She’s been out with a guy from JLS while he’s been in the A and its been in the press in the UK. I just hate to see a friend disrespected. Other than that, short of DANNY setting his pubes on fire or THOMAS stealing one of my shoes, you guys have the story of how I became “MCFLYD” Look out for this album!

You’ll never guess who McFly are working with…

If you had asked us to guess who McFly would be writing with next, we probably wouldn’t even consider this person – Taio Cruz.

This gossip is straight from the horses mouth.

It’s a good thing that the wish was a huge success – April, who lives with renal failure, had flown over from Connecticut with her Mum and Dad especially for her to meet the band!

The big day started well when April found everyone staring at her as she got into the stretch limousine which picked up the family from their hotel. Loving the attention, she was so excited that she couldn’t eat as they travelled to lead singer Tom’s house in London, where April and the whole band enjoyed a chat. April was a little quiet at first, but she soon got into her stride and remembered all the questions she’d been planning to ask for weeks.

Before she knew it, an hour had whizzed past and it was time for everyone to head for a restaurant to share one of the most memorable meals of April’s life!

All the boys in the band were very friendly and patient and happily posed for pictures, before all signing the restaurant menu for April to treasure forever.

Last word goes to the band – they don’t need to worry; this was a day April will never forget:

“We had a really special time with April and her family – it’s amazing she came all the way from the USA just to see her favourite band. We hope we made it worthwhile.

All our love, McFly.”

Here’s an article about how Harry was involved with officially opening The Oasis Centre or C-Forward, a specialist cancer care unit for teenagers on Friday:

McFly Drummer Opens Cancer Centre

McFly drummer Harry Judd officially opened a new centre for teenagers with cancer at Addenbrooke’s Hospital today (Friday).

The Oasis Centre has been built for teenagers with cancer to use before a new, multi-million pound specialist unit opens at Addenbrooke’s next year.

Inside is a lounge with big screen TV, games consoles, juke box and table football, as well as a kitchen/diner, therapy room and study room.

Young cancer patients from anywhere in the region can use the new facilities, regardless of where they’re being treated.

Harry told Heart: “The Oasis Centre looks amazing. I’m so impressed with the positive environment here and I know that this centre, and the new unit, will make a huge difference to young people with cancer, giving them the ability to chill out with each other and still be teenagers.”

The new ten bed specialist unit at the hospital, which will be ready for use by the end of next year, has been designed to be as close as possible to a young person’s life outside. The private rooms will have colourful wall designs and state of the art technology to allow young people to keep in touch with their friends.

The Oasis Centre, and the new specialist unit, are being run and built by the Teenage Cancer Trust.

It’s goes without saying that all of us at Dougiefied are incredibly proud of Harry and his affiliation with the centre, which will make a huge difference to the lives of young people diagnosed with cancer.

Here’s an unusual article where McFly talk about public transport…:

Thankful travellers McFly

McFly believe public transport helped them make it as a band.

The ‘Obviously’ hitmakers – consisting of lead singer and guitarists Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, bassist Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd – say they owe a lot of their success to travelling on busses and trains.

Danny explained: “When I was 16, when I first got in the band actually, I used to travel down to London on Virgin trains from Manchester to London. It would give me time to think and reflect and write some lyrics.

“Also, if you travel with busses, you never know what you’re going to find. I basically found a purse with lots of money in, handed it into the police, got it back two weeks later.

“There was £1200 in there…I used it to buy my first guitar, my first decent acoustic. I still use it today!”

Although drummer Dougie admits public transport hasn’t helped his songwriting skills, he notes McFly are not the only band to use long journeys to their musical advantage.

He explained to eco-charity Global Cool: “Well, I’ve never written a song while I’m on public transport, but apparently George Michael wrote that song ‘Guilty Feet’ on a bus while on his way back from school or something.”

Maybe someone should tell Dougie that ‘Guilty Feet’ is actually called ‘Careless Whisper’, and maybe correct the journalist while you’re at it… “drummer Dougie”…

TOP pop band McFly are heading to Kirklees.

Kirklees Council have just announced they have signed up the chart-topping boy band for this year’s Party in the Park – a free event, taking place on August 23 in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury.

The concert is on the same day that McFly grace the main stage at the V Festival, and following their performance in Staffordshire they will be whisked up to Kirklees.

Organisers of the concert expect thousands of people will be ready to sing along to their big hits such as ‘All About You’ and ‘Lies’.

The band shot to stardom after they first found fame in 2004. Since then, they’ve had a total of seven number one singles and two number one albums and played to audiences around the world.

Other bands on the Party In the Park line-up have yet to be confirmed.

Home, recording and the JB’s

Aloha,

Sorry we have been slack at blogs…twitter is very distracting!

Last night we played Star Girl with the Jonas Brothers at their gig at Wembley. Was great and we’d love to do it again sometime.

We’re back in the studio from next week for vocals. Got some lyrics to write! Ben at the studio today and had a listen to what we recorded in Australia this year and it’s so awesome. Can’t believe us four sound like that…how did that happen!?

Once again discussing taking over the world…a popular subject for studio chats.

McFly to appear in ‘Hollyoaks’

Boyband McFly are to make a cameo appearance in an episode of Hollyoaks, DS can exclusively reveal.

Little is known about their guest spot, but they follow in the footsteps of girlband The Saturdays, who filmed a stint for E4 spin-off show Hollyoaks Later at the end of last year.

A Hollyoaks source told DS: “We’ve yet to finalise all the details yet, but we hope that they’ll be singing one of their classics.”

The foursome are due to film at the soap’s studios within the next few weeks and will make their screen cameo at some point in May.

McFly kick off their ‘Up Close…And This Time It’s Personal’ tour with support from David Archuleta next month.

The group have secured sixteen Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums since first finding fame in 2004.
