The Saturdays star missed her boyfriend but time apart helped their relationship

Frankie Sandford is glad she’s reunited with Dougie Poynter.

The Saturdays star and the McFly hunk broke up in March after a year of dating.

Frankie admits she found it hard living without Dougie, 22, during their brief separation.

‘[It was] really tough,’ she explains.

‘In the first few weeks you think you will be OK, and you think about dating other people but then it gets to a point when you really miss them.’

Frankie, 21, insists the split has strengthened her relationship with Dougie.

‘We got to a point where we needed time apart,’ she says.

‘It was all getting a bit much and we decided to take a break. To be honest, that time apart has done us the world of good. We needed it.’

About one month after the dramatic split? Check. Bag full of boy stuff? Check. Tears? Check. Awkward silences? Check.

Ok, so we don’t know for definite that there were awkward silences because we weren’t actually there – but by the looks of these pictures, Frankie Saturdays and Dougie McFly have just had THE post-break up convo.

The pair broke the hearts of teenagers (and slightly strange twenty-somethings) everywhere last month by announcing their split, following nasty rumours that Frankie was courting Calum Best.

Frankie has since been falsely linked to Ashley Cole and Aston JLS – making for quite the uncomfortable chat, we’re sure.

The pair were snapped turning up separately for their heart-to-heart at the Mayfair hotel in London last night. Pretty fancy, but not all that private. All the better for us to ogle at you.

Last night, ‘Killing In The Name’ by Rage Against In The Machine was confirmed as the 2009 Christmas number one, after a widely reported online campaign.

McFly’s Dougie Poynter was delighted to hear the news, tweeting “So happy Rage are number one.”

He went on to tell how he purchased the song SEVEN times from iTunes. Unfortunately, as stated on the ‘RATM For Christmas Number One’ group, you should only buy ONE copy of the song – any more will cancel out your purchase and it will not contribute towards the chart.

Frankie Sandford‘s boyfriend is worried she will ”run away” with Robert Pattinson and banned her from attending the ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ premiere.

Frankie Sandford wasn’t allowed to go to the ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ premiere because her boyfriend was too jealous.

The Saturdays singer – who has been dating the McFly bassist Dougie Poynter for almost a year – said he hated the fact she had a crush on the British actor in the film, Robert Pattinson.

She said: “Robert Pattinson… I really wanted to go to his new film premiere, but my boyfriend Dougie wouldn’t let me. He said, ‘I’m not taking you, you’ll run away with him.’”

The 20-year-old popstar also revealed that on their first date, Dougie had a hangover.

She said: “I met him briefly at a show at G-A-Y, but we’d fancied each other from afar for about five years. When we met, he shook my hand and was really awkward.

“On our first date, the first thing he said was, ‘I’m really hungover and sometimes when I’m hungover I go into London and pass out, so I’m just warning you!’

“But we had a really good time – and we ended up being asked to leave the restaurant because they wanted to close. Everyone had packed up around us!”

The ‘If This Is Love’ popstar also revealed that things were going so well with Dougie, who she recently moved in with, that even her parents think he’s great.

She said: “He has definitely got them on side – they love him. We are both so busy and have never lived in each other’s pockets, so it works. We get on really well. He’s my best friend and we don’t ever argue.”

Despite their fame, Frankie insists they view themselves as a normal couple.

She added: “We don’t put pressure on ourselves. Besides, we don’t see ourselves as a celebrity couple. We keep things a bit private.”

We love this couple so much that we can’t possibly be jealous (much) but news just in is that Frankie Sandford and Dougie Poynter have moved their relationship to the next level – and moved in together!

The pair, who have been dating for nine months, are said to be smitten with each other and Frankie regularly gushes about her hot to trot boyfriend (well, come on, who wouldn’t?) In a weekend supplement she said that although Dougie is gorgeous and adored by thousands of girls he’s well and truly HERS and that she trusts him. Aw.

But their relationship took a tumble – literally – when they failed to put up their bed properly. A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “They ended up in a heap on the floor after their bed frame in their flat collapsed in the middle of the night. Frankie was devastated but Dougie thought it was hilarious. He jokingly told Frankie she needed to go on a diet!”
